The Nepali government has restructured the royalties for mountain climbing permits in Nepal. Mountaineering is the backbone of Nepal’s tourism industry. The government of Nepal has made the following decisions in a bid to make mountaineering royalty fees competitive among neighboring countries, promote mountains lying in remote and less privileged areas, and create a creative environment to transform the seasonal mountaineering business operational year-round and materialize the concept of ‘Nepal for all Seasons.’ Restructuring the royalty fees aims to stimulate climbing tourism to make it competitive with neighboring counties, promote mountain climbing in remote locations, and encourage mountaineering and climbing all year round.
