Nepal is characterized by its diverse and varied climate, influenced by its altitude and topographical features. The low-lying Terai region in the south experiences a tropical climate with hot summers and mild winters, while the central hills and valleys have a temperate climate. The northern mountain ranges, including the Himalayas, experience a cold and alpine climate. During the monsoon season from June to September, much of the country experiences heavy rainfall, particularly in the Terai and central regions. The best time to visit for trekking and mountaineering is from October to May, when the skies are clear and temperatures are mild. Despite the challenges posed by its diverse climate, Nepal offers a wealth of opportunities for visitors, from exploring its rich cultural heritage to participating in outdoor activities in its stunning natural surroundings
Nepal's climate is influenced by both maritime and continental factors and has four distinct seasons. Spring, from March to May, brings warm temperatures of around 22°C, with occasional rain showers. Summer, from June to August, marks the monsoon season when the hills turn green. Nepal's diverse topography, ranging from sea level at 75m to the summit of Mount Everest at 8,848m, results in varied climates. The southern region of the Terai remains hot throughout the year, while temperatures decrease towards the north as altitude increases. To help visitors plan their travels, we have created a chart indicating approximate temperatures at different altitudes in different months based on our experience.

What is the best time to visit Nepal?
The best time to visit Nepal is from September to November during the autumn season when the weather is clear and pleasant with views of the Himalayas and a cool temperature. This is also the peak tourist season, making it easier to plan and book accommodations and activities. The spring season (March to May) is also a good time to visit, with warm weather and blooming flowers. However, monsoon season (June to August) is not ideal for travel due to heavy rainfall and potential flooding.
What is the rainy season in Nepal?
Summer (between June – August) is also the monsoon season in Nepal. The weather is hot and wet at times. It rains almost everyday with occasional thunderstorms in the evening. The rain spreads the pleasantness around with lush green vegetation.
