After enjoying a hearty breakfast, embark on a scenic 20-minute drive to the northern edge of the valley, marking the beginning of an exciting journey to Cheri Gompa, a serene monastery. The route leads you through picturesque rural landscapes, gently ascending a valley adorned with lush paddy fields and serene woodlands, passing by a Tibetan village along the way.

Upon reaching Dodena, a cantilevered bridge marks the starting point for a 30-45 minute steep uphill climb. This ascent leads you to the historic Cheri Dorji Dhen, originally constructed in 1620 by Shabdrung, Bhutan's inaugural ruler, who also founded the monastery's first order of monks. At Cheri, you'll likely have the opportunity to enter the tranquil courtyard and explore the inner sanctums of the shrine.

Afterward, descend to the base of the hill, where your transportation awaits to comfortably return you to Thimphu.
