Further, it will be a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar, the capital of the Sherpas, where we are greeted by spectacular mountain vistas. Everest is the homeland of the Sherpas who are famous as the legendary mountain guides and climbers. Dissected by turbulent rivers and terraced by farming, the highland valleys of Solukhumbu offer some of the best high altitude trekking in Nepal. As the area is ringed by gigantic peaks, trekking here provides stunning close-up views of the mountains. Walking through the Sherpa villages of Namche Bazar, Thame and Khumjung, trekkers can mingle with the cheerful, friendly Sherpas, explore the ancient Buddhist monasteries and admire the rhododendron forests that bloom during spring time.
At the airport, you will meet by representative of our company and transferred to the Hotel in Kathmandu on private tourist transportation. He/She will be displaying the Ethic Himalaya display signboard outside the airport arrival terminal A pre-trek briefing will be held in the evening by our representative or trekking guide about the trek. In the evening, you will be taken for the welcome dinner at authentic Nepalese cusine, where you will have Nepalese taste and cultural dance.
Full day sightseeing tour will cover some UNESCO-listed world heritage sites of Nepal like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath temple, and Boudhanath Stupa. The sightseeing tour shall be very explorative and informative. One can get some unique insights into the art, culture, and history of Nepal. Kathmandu Durbar Square depicts Nepal’s rich history and the subtle taste of Malla kings in terms of art and architecture.
Your day begins early as you head for Kathmandu airport to catch to Lukla flight. Assuming the flight departs without much delay, you will have fine weather with stunning views of Himalayan peaks. The trail leaves Lukla through a Kaani or gateway. Soon you are walking down gently descending trails, past rolling farmlands that extends over what seems to be a wide promontory overlooking the canyon of the Dudh Koshi River. The snow peak at the head of the valley is Kumbila (5,716m), the mountain sacred to the sherpas. On the way to Phakding, you will notice a huge boulder printed with Tibetan religious mantras (mostly; Om mani padme hum). About 4 hours walk, you will be in Monjo. Overnight in Monjo at Yeti Mountain Home or Everest Summit Lodge.
We continue north following the Dudh Koshi river and on to Jorsale where we enter the Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park. From here it is a short walk to the confluence of two rivers, the lmja Drangpa (Imja Khola) and the Nangpo Tsangpo (Bhote Koshi) followed by a steep climb (for about 2hrs.) to Namche Bazaar, the main town in the Khumbu region. Namche is a prosperous Sherpa town and an important trading center with a weekly Saturday market. Distance: 10.5km/6.5miles approximately 5 hours walks. Overnight in Namche at Yeti Mountain Home or Everest Summit Lodge.
This is your day for acclimatization and rest. Acclimatizing here is particularly important for the onward trek, when you begin gaining altitude quickly.
The flat and easy trail leads towards the view of Mt. Everest, then descends deep into the Dudh Koshi Valley at Pungki Thanka; from here it ascends the right flank of the Dudh Koshi valley to Tengboche Monastery (3,860m). It is the spiritual center of the Khumbu; the climb is long, but more than adequately compensated by views of Mt. Amadablam and on a clear day, views of Mt. Everest and its surrounding peaks.
We hike half an hour down to riverside though lush forest, across the river and take a gradual climb up to the valleys highest year round settlement of Pangboche (3,860m/12,664ft). Continue ascending in the afternoon through alpine meadows and yak herds, eventually reaching Dingboche.
After breakfast at the lodge the trail leads through the valley and get in to the bottom of the hill from where uphill begins to get in to Dugla. After that the trail continue climb upto the ridge where many memories of Sherpa who died on the glacier of Mount Everest. The the trail gently climb up to the Lobuche for overnight.
Today is a challenging day but will no doubt be very rewarding and the highlight of the trek. We start early in the morning to catch the dramatic views from Kalapathar witnessing the first light of day shining on Mt. Everest. However, we need to get prepared for an early morning, dark and cold temperature (-10 to -14 C) departure beforehand. Familiar the most famous peaks such as Lingtren, Khumbutse, Changtse to the east and Mt. Everest between the west shoulder crest and Nuptse. During the ascent to Kalapathar we can pause to catch our breath at several outstanding viewpoints to snap pictures. After 2 hours of ascent, we will be Kalapathar. From this juncture, we scramble to climb the rocky outcrop near to the summit marked by cairns and prayer flags. As we reach the top, we sit on the Kalapathar where our eyes rook taking in the unbelievable Himalayan Panorama, wandering from one mighty massif to another.
After a light lunch we will set off to walk to Everest Base Camp which is approximately 4 to 5 hour return trek back to Gorakshep. After crossing the sandy flat at Gorakshep the trail climbs onto the lateral moraine of the Khumbu glacier and ascends the side of the glacier for two hours before finally descending onto rocky glacial moraine. The trail then winds up and down and through fascinating ice sera’s to Everest Base Camp where there are fantastic close up views of the Khumbu ice fall. After a short stop we will retrace our trail back to Gorakshep. On being back to Gorakshep and continue to walk down to Pheriche 3 hours walking.
After hot breakfast at the lodge, the trail drops easy downhill through the dry valley till Pangboche village. Then the trail drops to the riverside and cross a bridge and continues up through the pine and juniper forest to Tengboche. The trail descends to the Dudh Koshi River and continues up to Kyungjuna. Finally an easy walk leads you to the Namche bazzar for overnight where you will have really hot shower which is the best after few days having no shower. Stay overnight at the lodge.
After breakfast at the lodge, the trail drops downhill through the pine forest till to the bridge and continue walk to the Monju. Again some formalities have to be done at the check post of the National park at Monju then continue walk to the Phakding for the lunch. After that your last day of the trek continue to the Lukla. Stay overnight at the lodge.
Take flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla after a breakfast. But the flight is depend upon the weather condition and need to wait till evening. Enjoying your last glimpse of the mountains that you have recently visited of 35 minutes scenic flight back to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel in Kathmandu and free afternoon.
