Trip Overview
Cho-la pass trekking another interesting and strenuous trekking of Khumbu region which is often dangerous and connect to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lake. Demanding previous experience and walking over the pass on snow, trekker will be taken into the heart of the mountains and the culture of the Everest region to the foot of the great peak itself. This best trekking of the world which combines the two routes to Gokyo and Base Camp and crossing Ngozumpa Glacier and Cho La pass is its interesting feature of this trekking. The pass is not considered very difficult but advised to bring ropes, Ice Axe and other climbing equipment during snowfall and other conditions. Though, it is not difficult, many trekkers have succumbed to altitude sickness, hypothermia, and exhaustion while attempting this trekking. Beyond Gokyo Lake, the trail mounts the moraine wall of the Ngozumpa Glacier with numerous crevasses and the great views of mountains and moraine. The trail has slippery rocks and is very steep up walking over stony ramp. As you descend down from Cho-la pass and while doing pass stay to the left of it walking up and down along its rocky edges. Lobuche Peak dominates the eastern views with the Everest group of peaks further off, great view of Khumbila peak to the south and Kangchung peak in the north. You can see the back numerous peaks from Cho-la pass. Then the trail takes you over natural rocks steps, which are many cairns.
