Indian, Bangladeshis and Maldivian nationals can obtain a permit at the port of entry on producing a valid passport with a minimum of 6 months validity (Indian nationals may also use their Voters Identity Card (VIC)). All other travellers except Indian, Bangladeshis and Maldivian nationalities require Bhutan visa for Tour, Trekking and others. In order to process Bhutan visa, we need your clear readable colour passport copy (page containing your passport number and clear picture in JPEG or PDF format) at least 20 days prior to date of entry into Bhutan. The passport should be valid at least 6 months from the date of exit from Bhutan. Visas are processed through an online system by your licensed Bhutanese tour operator directly or through a foreign travel agent. The visa will be processed by the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB) once the full payment of your holiday (including a USD $40 visa fee) has been wire transferred and received in the TCB bank account. Once received, the visa clearance will be processed within 72 working hours.
Tourism Council of Bhutan issues visa clearance letter closer to traveling date which we email or fax you or your local travel agent. Travelers are required to produce aforesaid visa clearance copy at the time of check-in for Druk Air flight while those entering Bhutan by surface via Phuentsholing or Samdrup Jonkhar, they are required to produce this Visa Clearance letter at the Immigration counter. At your point of entry you will be required to show your visa clearance letter, the visa will then be stamped into your passport.
Visa only service is not offered in Bhutan, guests have to buy full service tour package from local tour operator that includes accommodation, guided tours, transfers etc.
