everest base campEverest Base camp trekking from Jiri is the most famous trekking routes of Khumbu region which starts from Jiri and end at Lukla who shuns the Lukla flight preferring to reach Khumbu the hard way with lots of ups and downs trail traversing an 80km or 50 mile terrain that has ridges and rivers running north-south. Starting from 1905m in Lamjura la pass 3530m, then after more ups and downs, drop to 1500m to cross Dudh Koshi River. Its long and strenuous but the trek takes you through great mountain country and beautiful villages. There are not many views of snow-capped peaks except at one place beyond Junbeshi. Trekkers can explore the whole region of Khumbu region in this trekking with stunning views of Himalaya Mountains, green jungle and lush valleys. During the trekking periods, trekker can enjoy panoramic view of Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Makalu, Mt, Cho-Oyu, Ama Dablam and many more mountains and the unique different culture, tradition and life styles of different ethnic groups of Nepal in this region. The Trail is not overly crowded and the lodges are nice.
